Sekelsky appointed International PAS Drumset Committee chair

Dr. Michael Sekelsky, Professor of Music, was recently appointed chair of the International Percussive Arts Society, Drumset Committee.  PAS Committee chairs apply and interview for vacancies.  The PAS President and Executive Board appoint chairs for a three year term, renewable up to nine years.  The Drumset Committee chair oversees twenty committee members who are professional performers, representatives from major instrument companies, and college/university instructors.  In addition to overseeing several subcommittees, the chair of the Drumset Committee is responsible for oversight of the drumset artists for performances, clinics, and masterclasses at the annual PASIC convention (Percussive Arts Society International Convention) that has an annual attendance of over 7,000. 

PASIC is the world’s largest and most prestigious drum and percussion gathering featuring more than 130 events on 13 stages with the leading artists from around the world in the percussion community. Session topics span a variety of areas including drumset, symphonic, marching, recreational, world and keyboard percussion.  Sekelsky is an educational endorser for Vic Firth, Inc. and Sabian Cymbals, Ltd.
